Jujutsu Kaisen Finale, The End of an Era, But Is It Really Over?

Jujutsu Kaisen Finale The End of an Era, But Is It Really Over?

After six and a half years of jaw-dropping action, mind bending sorcery, and unforgettable characters, Jujutsu Kaisen has officially closed the book at least for now. Gege Akutami’s supernatural adventure took its final bow in this week’s Weekly Shonen Jump, wrapping up a series that has kept fans on the edge of their seats since 2018. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves while the last chapter did tie up some major storylines, there’s already heavy speculation that a sequel could be lurking just around the corner.

And while nothing’s confirmed yet, let’s be real: Would you be surprised if Yuji Itadori and the gang made a comeback? Neither would we.

JJK Smashes 100 Million Copies in Circulation

To mark the manga’s epic conclusion, Akutami hit fans with a special piece of artwork and the incredible announcement that Jujutsu Kaisen has officially surpassed 100 million copies in circulation. That’s no small feat. We’re talking about numbers that only a handful of manga can touchJJK is firmly cemented in the hall of fame.

For the die hard fans, make sure you’re ready: Volume 28 is dropping in Japan on October 4, 2024, with the final two volumes (29 and 30) landing just in time for Christmas Day. It’s like Gege Akutami gave us a holiday gift to cherish as we say our goodbyes to the manga that stole our hearts.

The Anime’s Still Going Strong!

But just because the manga has wrapped doesn’t mean the Jujutsu Kaisen hype train is stopping anytime soon. Oh no, not even close. The anime adaptation is still full steam ahead, with Season 3 already confirmed to cover the intense “Culling Game” arc, and trust us this arc is one of the craziest ones yet. The stakes are higher, the action is more brutal, and the sorcery? Next level.

And if you’re still craving more JJK content (who isn’t?), there’s a brand-new movie in the works, slated for a 2025 release in Japan. This time, it’ll dive deep into the “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death” arc, adding even more layers to the rich backstory we’ve been dying to learn more about.

Haven’t Jumped On the JJK Bandwagon? Now’s Your Chance

If you’re somehow late to the Jujutsu Kaisen party (it’s cool, we won’t judge), this is your sign to start binge watching ASAP. Both seasons 1 & 2 and the prequel film, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, are streaming on Crunchyroll with English subs and dubs. So whether you’re in for the thrill of seeing Yuji Itadori take on curses or the emotional weight of Gojo’s backstory, now’s the perfect time to catch up.

What’s Next for Jujutsu Kaisen?

Fans are already asking: Is this truly the end, or is there more to come? Given the massive success of the series, and the hints Akutami has dropped along the way, a sequel or spin-off might not be out of the question. In the world of anime and manga, never say never.

Whether or not the story continues, one thing’s for sure Jujutsu Kaisen has left an indelible mark on the anime and manga community, and its influence will be felt for years to come.
